2018 most attractive employer runner-up
MTR - one of the world’s most reliable and busy transport network companies - received the runner-up award for Most Attractive Employer in Hong Kong SAR for 2018.
MTR unarguably plays a significant part of Hongkongers’ daily life. It has consistently achieved a 99.9 per cent on-time service rate since its merger in 2007, making MTR one of the most efficient rapid transit systems in the world.
However, in an era where an ageing workforce and a diminishing talent in the engineering and technical space overshadow this vibrant city, how can MTR ensure that they continue to uphold its service promise to Hongkongers?
MTR has begun to provide educational programmes to cultivate an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with the younger population. This approach brings about two benefits - increase access to STEM programmes provide exciting and new career opportunities for the youths of today as well as a healthy pipeline of talent for the transportation sector in the future.
Within the organisation, MTR continues to identify and develop talent at different levels through its Corporate Leadership Pipeline, including Executive Associate and Graduate Schemes. MTR also offers cross-division and cross-boundary job rotations to help talent broaden their horizons and enrich their experience.
With such great initiatives, it is no surprise that MTR received the runner-up award for Most Attractive Employer at this year’s Randstad Employer Brand Awards.
At the awards ceremony held at The Hong Kong Maritime Museum on April 19, Natellie Sun, Managing Director at Randstad Hong Kong, presented the runner-up award for the Most Attractive Employer to Cyrena Lui, Human Resources Manager - Operations and Allen Ding, Head of Operating - North & East Regions, MTR.
