About the Company
My client is a market-leading life insurer with a dominant agency presence in Hong Kong. With ambitious growth and transformation goals, the company is investing in its agency distribution strategy to better align with market realities and customer needs. To support this, they are seeking a pragmatic and driven strategy professional to join as Associate Director, Agency Distribution & Proposition Strategy—a hands-on role that connects high-level planning with real-world implementation.
About the Role
- Strategic Planning with Ground-Level Execution
- Drive the development and execution of strategic initiatives for the agency channel, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
- Act as a critical connector between management and frontline agency teams, translating strategy into actionable plans.
- Conduct regular field visits to agency leaders and agents to gather real-time insights, feedback, and pain points.
- Bring back market intelligence to shape relevant and impactful business strategies.
- Customer & Agency Segmentation Strategy
- Lead initiatives around segmentation-based product and service propositions for different customer profiles and agent tiers.
- Help craft differentiated offerings based on agent needs, customer behaviour, and channel maturity.
- Support the design and rollout of tailored support models for various agency segments.
- Proposition & Transformation Delivery
- Work on end-to-end delivery of initiatives that uplift agency performance—spanning training programs, digital tools, analytics, and sales enablement.
- Collaborate with product, marketing, tech, and training teams to ensure practical integration of solutions into daily agency operations.
- Ensure initiatives are not only strategic but executable and sustainable in the field.
- Performance Monitoring & Market Intelligence
- Track the performance of key initiatives, analyze gaps, and iterate based on feedback from agency leaders and frontliners.
- Conduct internal and market benchmarking to shape forward-looking strategies.
- Provide senior leadership with grounded, data-driven recommendations based on direct market engagement.
- Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management
- Lead or support agency-related projects across functions, ensuring alignment and delivery across the organization.
- Act as a hands-on problem solver, capable of rolling up sleeves to troubleshoot execution challenges on the ground.
- Be the voice of the agency channel internally—championing agent needs while driving forward strategic objectives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in strategy, business transformation, or distribution-related roles in insurance or financial services.
- Prior experience in agency distribution and exposure to front-line dynamics highly preferred.
- Strong ability to balance high-level strategic thinking with tactical execution and problem-solving.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort engaging directly with agency leaders and agents.
- Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to present structured insights clearly in both English and Chinese.
- Proactive, grounded, and adaptable—someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
