About the Job
My client is seeking an experienced, driven, and strategic individual to join their company as the Head of Broker within their Brokerage Distribution department. This pivotal role will be instrumental in establishing and leading a new brokerage team, with a primary focus on expanding our brokerage partnerships—particularly those with brokers serving a significant Mainland Chinese Visitor (MCV) client base.
...Brokerage Partnership Development:
- Lead the identification, negotiation, and onboarding of new brokerage partners, with a focus on those with a large Chinese client base (MCV)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key brokerage firms to drive sustainable business growth
- Develop and implement partnership strategies and business plans to meet growth targets
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards when establishing partnerships
Sales Leadership & Team Management:
- Set up and lead a small sales team, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and ongoing support to ensure high performance
- Monitor and drive sales activities, establishing KPIs that align with the company’s growth objectives
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team
Market Strategy & Business Development:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aimed at expanding the company’s footprint in the brokerage segment
- Stay abreast of market trends and competitor activities to identify new opportunities for partnership and revenue growth
- Provide expertise and insights into the MCV market, tailoring solutions that meet the unique needs of Chinese clients
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the marketing, product, and compliance teams to ensure that broker needs are addressed and that products are positioned effectively
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure that the onboarding process for partners is smooth and efficient
Reporting & Performance Tracking:
- Regularly report on sales performance, partnership development, and market insights to senior management
- Establish and track metrics to evaluate the success and profitability of broker partnerships
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field
- Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., CLU, ChFC, or other insurance-related qualifications) are a plus
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the life insurance industry, with substantial exposure to the brokerage distribution channel
- Proven track record of building and managing brokerage partnerships, particularly with brokers serving Mainland Chinese clients (MCV business)
- Deep understanding of the life insurance brokerage market, including regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Strong network of contacts within the brokerage space, particularly in the MCV segment
- Strategic thinker with excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to lead and inspire a team while driving results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential
