Our client is a leading global insurer. Seeking a seasoned and highly experienced Head of Compliance (MLRO) to lead and manage the compliance function in Hong Kong. This role is critical in ensuring that their operations adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies, thereby safeguarding the integrity and reputation of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Compliance Framework Development: Design, implement, and maintain a robust compliance framework tailored to the insurance industry, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Regulatory Oversight: Monitor changes in legislation and regulations affecting the insurance sector, conducting impact assessments and gap analyses to ensure timely compliance.
- Policy Implementation: Develop and enforce compliance policies and procedures, ensuring they are effectively communicated and adhered to across all levels of the organization.
- Risk Assessment: Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks associated with the company’s operations, products, and services.
- Training and Awareness: Oversee the development and delivery of compliance training programs to ensure employees are informed and educated about compliance requirements and ethical standards.
- Advisory: Serve as the primary point of contact for senior management and staff on compliance-related matters, providing guidance on regulatory obligations and industry standards.
- Management: Prepare regular compliance reports for senior management and the board, highlighting areas of concern, compliance risks, and recommendations for improvement.
- Liaison with Regulators: Act as the main contact for regulatory bodies, ensuring timely submission of required documentation and effective communication regarding compliance issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in compliance within the insurance or financial services industry, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable policies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
